Green Dragons are also sometimes called “earth” dragons. They usually live deep within caves, and have power over the earth. They are capable of launching boulders at high speeds, and can cause earthquakes by slamming down onto the ground.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The fire blazed across the forest floor, growing larger each minute. Irys could not see through all the smoke. Her feet burned as she crouched on the ground. Folding in her wings she ran towards the bank of the island. A cool breeze rang through her ears. She strained every muscle in her body to keep moving forward. In one great leap over a large tree root, and she was there. She could feel water rushing down her legs. She glanced out down the beach, double checking where the water met the sand. She cringed in pain as the first contraction started. Crawling up onto a small mound of sand, she patted herself down into the warm sand. She could see the blaze of the fire replacing the glare of the setting sun. Wailing pierced the air as the next set of contractions set in.

A sharp screech sounded throughout the night as the egg was finally delivered. Irys stared at the shiny, green egg.
