Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It enjoys gathering pebbles and other small rocks and putting them in a pile.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

ALilNutmeg was a common green dragon, and felt there was nothing special about her. She wanted so much to be special, and to have everyone notice her, but she wasn't the type that acted out to gain others attention. She watched as the adult dragons could hurl giant boulders off the cliffs, and make the earth shake under them. As her peers grew into adult dragons she found out that she was special after all, she was unique in that she didn't grow into an adult. Everyone took notice and decided that she was the one to represent staying young at heart. She knew she may never be able to do the things the others could, but she also knew they couldn't stay young forever like her.
