Green Dragons are also sometimes called “earth” dragons. They usually live deep within caves, and have power over the earth. They are capable of launching boulders at high speeds, and can cause earthquakes by slamming down onto the ground.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hoenhiem lives in a isolated forest in a mountain range where he studies medicine; the occasional wandering dragon will sometimes land in Hoenhiem's forest where Hoenhiem will give them a meal and a place to rest for a day or two. For some reason Hoenhiem refuses to give his fellow Green Dragons a place to rest: some think that its because of an encounter a few years back with another Green Dragon that rendered Hoenhiem's right wing useless. Now when Green Dragons come anywhere near Hoenhiem's forest he starts an earthquake to ward them off.
