And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Pinkheart of Sunrise is the first born of Primo Pinkheart, who was stolen from his own family at birth. Primo guarded the precious egg with a fierceness that is uncommon to his breed. The proud and overprotective father feared that he would lose his beautiful pink daughter, so he called upon a sorceress. He asked that the sorceress enchant the egg and traded some of his own power in return. The sorceress kept her part of the bargain but not quite the way that Primo had envisioned, for she spelled the sweet girl to never grow old. Pinkheart of Sunrise spends most of her time playing with her mother, to whom she looks up too and admires. Though friendly with her father, she holds her frustrations at his folly deep inside.
