Olive Dragons are a small, forest-dwelling breed, rarely growing much larger than the average sheep. When alarmed, they can erect a long row of venomous spines on their back, serving to warn any potential predators that Olives are not a good choice for a meal. While not strong enough to kill anything larger than a small deer, their venom causes an extremely painful reaction and necrosis at the bite site, sometimes causing the flesh to rot and limbs to fall off.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dark Mind is the first mate of Feral Scale, and is so named Dark Mind because she has displayed a lack of emotion when suggesting ways to punish dragons who have committed heinous crimes, often to the degree that most deem her punishments to be far worse than the crimes that were carried out.

Her name, however, is a double entendre. Her name became enforced after she was left alone with a Canopy dragon from a rival clan that was being held captive and being used for a trade. After just two hours with him, she had soured his mind and filled it with hate for his own clan. He murdered many of his own clan and then tried to steal Dark Mind's heart, before she brutally murdered the monster she had created deliberately.

Feral Scale chose her as a mate as he admires her agility and strength, as well as her ability to manipulate minds. He also admires that she seems rather emotionless. Little does he know she is jealous of the other mates he is taking and plans to break them psychologically.
