Neotropical Dragons are a breed that originate in rainforests. They are fun-loving and enjoy lounging on tree branches, eating whatever fruit they find. They are also often found sunning themselves on rocks, using their large wings to soak up the rays. In the summer, males compete for mates by showing off their striped wings and gliding in spirals down the tree trunks. It is said that the larger the wings, the more likely the male will attract a suitable mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Her title is not to her name. She's a Neotropical dragon, a dragon known for loving the sun, a dragon known for sunning themselves on the trees. She isn't Magi or Soulpeace or any other species that can do any kind of magic. Neotropicals fly fast and have large wings that absorb the sun. She isn't a Witch. She isn't the Jade Witch, but it was the title bestowed upon her on her hatching, and therefore, she has no choice but to accept it.

Younger hatchlings, hatchlings that haven't yet discovered the fact that Neotropicals simply can't do magic ask her if she can. "It's in your title," they say. "You're the Jade Witch."

It breaks her heart every time to deny it to them, to be the one to deliver the bitter truth that she can't do magic, that none of them can do magic either. They are Neotropicals. They are fast-flying, sun-loving, flying-while-spiraling dragons. They are not Magis or Soulpeaces or any other dragon that can do magic.

It's not her choice to deliver the news, but she has to.
