Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Drogostorm is the ferocious leader of a group of Horsedragons from his cave that call themselves "The Khalassar". These warriors are great and rarely defeated in battle, yet their greatest fear is of the ocean. Now, most find that strange, but the warriors hail from a mostly-flat grassland area where all the water is fresh and safe to drink, unlike saltwater. When not in battle, he is laid back and considerate to those who've earned his respect, and he's got quite the sense of humor, too. His mate is the princess Daenerysstorm, a Red, who came from the lands across the so-called "poison water" while fleeing from the assassins sent after her by a usurper to her father's kingdom.
