And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Poor little Minsten (means the smallest in a foreign language) had one wing that's smaller than the other, making him a slow flyer. This meant that when the other Pygmies had eaten from the scavenges the other dragons left them there wasn't much left for him when he came, always later than everyone. When Tinti, the scrollkeeper realized how little food he got she started bringing him leftovers from her own dinners or buying him food from the stores in Galsreim. The yummy and nutritious food has made him healthier and his left wing has grown a bit. He is faster now, but due to the lack of nourishment he suffered at the start of his life he will forever remain a hatchling.
