Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Mind Churns was adopted by her caretaker and betrothed to a White dragon, The Heart Yearns.  She was not bothered by this until the pair were nearly adults, and The Heart Yearns stopped speaking to her, and nearly everybody else.  The Mind Churns tried to get him to speak, but he began to avoid her, to the extent that she would not see him for weeks on end.  Frustrated, The Mind Churns refused to ever mate with him.

Later, The Heart Yearns built up the courage to tell The Mind Churns that he did not dislike her, and that the reason he was avoiding her and the other dragons was because he was embarrassed of his sexuality.  The Mind Churns was still rather irritated that he refused to be her lifemate, and has still not quite come to terms with the fact that The Heart Yearns is gay, but she accepts and respects him regardless.
