Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The youngest of two siblings, Auriax hatched during a single eclipse of the silver moon Ciryion. Dragons born under these circumstances are said to be as bright as the moonlight itself, and indeed Auriax seems to live up to these words. His fiery personality lifts those closest to him, his courage never fails to inspire. Except when he is paired with Ciryion. Her cool, collected demeanor never fails to irritate him. He finds it incredulous that she can soothe almost any argument. Arguments are what excites and motivates, after all. He augments all of the little personality quirks his sister despises just to push her over the edge. He often comes across as a bully to those who don't know him, but Ciyrion's tantrums are far too amusing to watch with a straight face. Still, he loves her, but he definitely resents being her younger brother. Bravery is much more powerful than kindness.
