Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Geode dragons are closely related to Stone dragons. They are covered in a hard stone-like material as well as beautiful crystal. Their wings are entirely useless for flight, but they help attract mates. The dragons with the most brilliant and colorful crystals are more likely to mate.

Sapphire Sunrise is far from the most energetic of dragons. Her heavy wings keep her ground-bound and her massive size makes movement slow, but that doesn't stop her from doing her part in caring for the hatchlings. In the early morning, as the hatchlings wake up, she'll turn towards the sun, tilt her wings just so and let the light create beautiful patterns off her crystals. While the other adults sleep in, she keeps the young ones occupied with a dazzling light show.
