Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Cubrosna's real name is CuSn, but she no longer uses it.

She lives in a city entirely of dracons, to which she was brought by an unpleasant turn of events. While recovering from the shock of it, she was mostly left alone by all except the shadow walker who saved her, Aetheriox. He helped her learn the ways of life in the city, and helped her mount the paranoia she had built up after years of living alone in dangerous lands. She repaid his kindnesses with a kindness of her own, sometimes physical gifts but mostly words of kindness and caring that were different than what was said by anyone else. Over time, these words evolved into sweet nothings and eventually it became obvious the pair was a couple. Cubrosna learned to fight, and joined Aetheriox in defending the city against the threat of the humans from the southeast. They patrol together, and are probably the best fighters in the city.
