And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Young drakes are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own.

The night quickly envelops the cave. She really enjoys this time. And as she flies out to greet the darkness with a hearty smile, the moonlight glints and smiles back. As she dances into the night and as the day awakens from sleep, she shrugs happily and jumps back into her cave, waiting for the night to return once again.
