Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Jegraelag never felt like he belonged, though everyone likes him.  Till that night.

When "Jay" was an adolescent, he was standing guard outside the cave, watching the youngest stir violently in his dreams. He was about to wake him when he heard a soft sound. Curious at who could be up so late at night, he followed the noise.

Hidden by the brush, he watched as a young female winter swam almost perfectly, as if born to. But her head was craned up awkwardly high above the water, though it was still entrancing.

Distracted, Jay slipped. The sound startled her and her neck slipped down. She started thrashing violently and coughing. Instantly, Jay dove in and pulled her to the shore. He saw the reason for her panic: a burn and hole in her throat. Then he recognized the scar. Deiya Starrae.

Deiya never forgot him. She sought him out the next day. It wasn't long till they fell for each other. Though he never got why a creature like her would choose a thing like him, she is the light in his life.
