Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Aga Firebrand, the Shadowgaurd Nanny, is the dragon in charge of the hatchery and daycare. While she takes very good care of all the young hatchlings and eggs, she did not have this luxury as a child.

Aga, originally named Asres, was a child of a red dragon and a silver. While most of these pairings turn out fine, Aga was born with wings; but as silvers do not possess wings, she was born without the muscles needed to use them. This made her a reject in her original clan, and nobody noticed when one night, she ran away.

She trudged through the forest for three days and nights, eating and drinking nothing. It was not until she was almost dead from exhaustion that she came to the Shadowgaurd clan.

It was here that she found the home she had needed, and at her naming ceremony, she announced that she would take the place of Shadowgaurd nanny, and never let anyone be treated like she was.
