Storm Dragons are the masters of the skies. They are excellent fliers and land only to rest and eat. In addition, they have full control of the weather. They are very hot-tempered and easily angered. They will attack any human that bothers them, conjuring strong winds and dangerous lightning.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kumo has suffered his share of hardships. After being accepted into his mate's clan, both of his mate's parents were killed defending their territory. Kumo's mate, Wapika, was beautiful and strong, he loved her with all his heart. They had two daughters, Kuma and Lina. But, Lina was always reckless and malicious. After a battle, Lina flew off into the distance, never to return. And the battle injured Kuma badly.

Ages ago, a terrible storm broke apart the Orei-Aria clan. Wapika's parents lost their first child during the storm,too. During Kumo's rein as clan leader, a storm similar to the older one ravaged his land. His nephew, brother-in-law, and his mate were killed, leaving him devastated. Kumo was only able to save Kuma. His sister-in law, Aurora was not seen afterwards and is presumed alive. Kumo and Kuma continue to look for her, as well as Lina.
