It’s an undead baby dragon, produced by a failed magical spell. It probably would be cute if it weren’t partially decayed.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

No one could have foreseen it. The illness struck from nowhere, weakening dragons until they couldn't take it anymore, only to vanish as suddenly as it came. Only a few of the adults were affected, but the heavy blow came when the illness ended the lives of the group of hatchlings that had been placed under Siryan's care—the group Endogen belonged to. The Arsani couldn't deal with the loss, and in her grief, she turned to what should never be used: dark magic.

Iktru was the first to return. Emboldened by the success, Siryan attempted to cast the revival spell on the next victim—but failed. The result was Endogen's rising as a zombie, small body deteriorating as it mindlessly attacked Iktru.

The other hatchling was saved, but Siryan couldn't bring herself to return Endogen to the land of the dead. So she took it upon herself to seal it away so it wouldn't hurt anyone else, deep in the cave where no one would find it. Sealed but not forgotten, to never make the same mistake again.
