This hatchling could hardly be considered cute.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

In a certain region near Eastwall Woods, when black marrows descend upon the scent of death, they often discover the toes are already missing from even fresh corpses. This swift little marrow is to blame, scampering in and nibbling the toes before running away, leaving the majority of the carcass as a prize far more tempting than a hatchling so small that a few toes is enough to provide it a worthwhile meal.
