Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When he was a young hatchling, one who'd just recently grown his wings, Zukofire accidentally spoke out of turn at one of his father's important War Councils. This angered his father and the Council, but to add insult to injury, when challenged to a duel by his father, he refused to fight. He was subsequently horribly burned and then banished from the kingdom "to teach him a lesson about honor". He traveled for many years searching for an elusive Skywing known as 'The Avatar', believing capturing him was the only way to honorably return home. He came close a few times, but eventually realized, thanks to the advice of his wise uncle who traveled with him, that one can restore their own honor. Finally, he joined forces with the Avatar and his supporters and together they took down the regime of his father and sister. Now rightfully on the throne, he hopes to someday restore peace to the land and repair the damages caused by his family.
