Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dolce Violoncello Melodio grew up alongside the White dragon Tragica Infatuazione. As hatchlings they played together in the few evening hours before she was called away to bed. At night he would come as close to the nest as the White dragons would let him to watch over her as she slept. They promised to be friends, always.

But as they grew older Dolce realized how different they were.  She was growing into a beautiful, kind dragon. She learned to heal the injured, and never hurt a living thing. He grew darker by the day, possessed by violent needs. Dolce distanced himself from her, afraid to hurt her.  Tragica, though, demanded to know if he meant to break their promise. Angry and upset by her accusation, Dolce lost control and bit her. The other dragons attacked him then, chasing him from the cave. Dolce never heard if he killed Tragica, a mystery that has tortured him. Now whenever he sees a Vampire egg in the nest, he steals it away, so one like him never harms one like her again.
