Ice Dragons are fierce predators who hunt using their extremely cold breath. The breath of an ice dragon can freeze its prey solid in seconds. The body of an ice dragon is so cold that icicles will form along its skin no matter the outside temperature.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Avuxvi likes tropical fruit, but she's so cold that she kills the non- frost-hardy trees just by touching them. She lives on a frigid coast with her mate Nixortun, trading trinkets of enchanted, never-melting ice in exchange for whatever exotic fruit they can manage to ship so far north. Her parents look down on her for not following their path to knighthood, but she doesn't care: she follows a philosophical school that frowns upon killing without reason, and the only reasons that she can stand for are hunting or saving a creature whose physical agony makes life unbearable. She would never raise a claw for such pointless reasons such as a royal house wanting what some other kingdom owns, so she lives peacefully, sharing the deer she catches and the fish Nixotrun brings home.
