Sunrise Dragons are closely related to sunset dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunrise Dragons prefer to live in large groups and enjoy basking in the early morning sun. They are usually most active in the morning, and go to sleep in the early evening.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ayael is a loving and caring dragoness, who loves to raise children and take care of other dragons. This is why everyone loves her, except Hiervan d'Estrial, who is jealous of her. Ayael often talks with the other females about their mate, how their children grow up, and other things that don't seem interesting at all for the males and the children. She heard from Wisdom of Eleuthia what happened between her mate and Hiervan but, instead of being jealous, she felt sorry for them. However, when she tried to approach Saika, The Unwanted Child, her mother attacked her and didn't let her speak to her. Since then Hiervan is even more disliked and Ayael is seen like the kindest dragon of the cave.
