Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Nebula dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula dragons will be exactly the same.

"If you watch carefully, and if you are patient, the night sky will tell you what you want to know. Trust me, for I have seen." - Orlais

Orlais Stargazer is a prophet of sorts. Her past-time is to watch the stars, to 'see' the meanings they tell her. She believes that not only are stars beautiful and untouchable, but they are also all-knowing. She believes that the stars have chosen to tell her things to help those around her, and so she watches each night to see what they have to say. She is skilled in the knowledge of the sky, and gets very excited when something rare comes by. Once before, she woke up every dragon in the cave to watch a metor shower pass, simply because she had never seen one and didn't want to watch alone.
