Pumpkin dragons are a very small breed, named after their affinity for pumpkins. They are always found living inside hollowed-out pumpkins, and are only seen during the harvest season. Young children often hollow out and decorate their pumpkins in the hope that a Pumpkin dragon will make it his or her home.

Sarai is the laziest dragon in the pumpkin patch. It is unusual to see her before noon and most days it is several hours after that when she actually deigns to stir from her pumpkin. Once awake, Sarai is sweet and kind but her habitual laziness annoys the other dragons. They do not like to fill her in on events that took place while she was asleep and will often give her the cold shoulder. For her part, Sarai shrugs off their irritation, finds food for herself, and goes back to bed.
