Far and away one of the most enigmatic of dragon breeds, the Sinomorph is shrouded in near-complete mystery. While the exact conditions that herald its arrival are not certain, it is said to only appear when called upon by all six Zyumorphs. Record of its existence may be limited to folklore and ancient legends, but recent sightings seem to suggest this storybook behemoth may truly walk the lands of Valkemare. If the stories of the past are to be trusted, its appearance serves as a beacon of light in the face of looming calamity.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Elder Serpent is the subject of endless rumors, stories, and tall tales. Schyller tells parables about her to hatchlings. Other dragons trade boasts of having witnessed her—whether basking atop a far mountain, soaring at great height, or swimming in fathomless depths. Males claim to have made eggs with her. The brassier Desipis brag about having faced off against her in the legendary past. The Xenowyrms refer to her by a secret name, and will not speak of her to anyone outside their own race; amongst themselves, they worship her as a goddess. Some say that the Miles-Deep Lake—where the Baikala swim and the Guardian of Nature called Whispering Abyss sleeps—was created when the Elder Serpent stamped her foot in rage at the deeds of some nameless foe. The Breedery mountain itself was supposedly heaved up from the ground in the fury of that ancient battle. Most of the stories are only that. But the Elder Serpent is real, if only rarely seen, and some of the tales are true...
