Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very festively colored.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

As Candy has not grown his wings yet, he is vulnerable and weak. Ordinarily this would not be a problem, as he would have his clan-mother to protect him, but his clan was destroyed by Vampires. Just as the Christmas dragons spread good cheer, Vampire Dragons leave negative feelings, which are toxic to Christmas Dragons. <br/>The only other dragon to escape from the Vampires was a full grown Dragon named Peppah. <br/>After they had left their territory, and the vampires, behind, they were joined by Frost, a spirit of Winter. <br/>The trio were at the end of their strength when they reached the territory of a clan of abandoned dragons, and were healed by the white dragon Kellin. Candy has found new friends among the hatchlings of the clan, and refuses to leave.
