Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Bronzestorm was brought into her cave as a gift to her human owner. She is a kind, friendly Tinsel who loves to help the Holiday dragons during their respective celebrations and even hosts lavish parties for special days that don't have their own dragons associated with them, such as Easter, Thanksgiving, and St. Patrick's Day. All the Tinsels in her ancestry are paired with caveborn Dark Green dragons, but she is an exception, paired with the caveborn Frilled dragon, Ferntalon. This is because she is frightened of Dark Greens and their violent ways, and because her owner has only a few Dark Greens, none of which are caveborn, but her owner wanted to continue the staircase type lineage. Neither dragon minds the arranged-ness of it all; her mate is glad to be able to have children even if they cannot be his species, and Bronzestorm is glad that he isn't someone mean and scary. The two had been friends before being paired together, so it isn't as if anything was totally unexpected.
