Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s clear that night is its favourite time.

And look! It has grown wings and turned red on its back! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Hemogoblin has the darkest red markings of all Bleeding Moons in the clan. All the other hatchlings keep a respectful distance from him, weary of any violent acts from his side. Hemo really would just want to play though. He is not particularly aggressive for a hatchie of his breed and is a bit lonely. He wished his mummy would stop polishing and painting the spots on his back darker just because she wants him to look his best.
