Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Tuqot has always been impatient, but she has become especially short-tempered ever since she was apprenticed to Jesak. She thinks he is vain and conceited, and neglects his duty in training her. Whatever she thinks, Tuqot tends to avoid the fact that she has learned a lot from her mentor, although the bit about him being vain is a well-known fact.
