Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sezjara has been a trendsetter since her hatchling days, when each new flower crown she wore was immediately copied by all of her playmates. Now that she's matured, she has moved on to more sophisticated decorations than flowers—draped cloth, specially-commissioned jewelry, and even custom-made scale dyes. Most of these look absolutely ridiculous on any dragon not a silver tinsel, but that doesn't stop many from trying to imitate her style. Sezjara has never quite known why she remains so popular—it's not as though tinsels are rare where she lives—but generally doesn't mind, even if the constant imitation does sometimes grate on her nerves a little.
