Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Near the edge of a swamp lies a rather large and almost unoccupied tower. Several humans or dragons know what is truly inside of it, but what is more well-known is the constantly-spread rumor that both a huge hoard and a beautiful female waits inside of the tower somewhere. The tower is well known for its traps and dangers, but so far, none have managed to procure anything from within and escaped unscathed.

However the truth of the matter is that both rumors are due to the tower's "owner", Kerrexine, a vicious and very vain Hellfire. While growing up, she heard many stories of beautiful maidens being rescued from towers by a handsome prince. She believes that none are more perfect than herself, so she orchestrated a huge death-trap to have a possible mate "rescue" her. Unfortunately, when unknowing royalty attempt and discover the real prize, they refuse and are always slaughtered for their "insolence".

So far, her only company in the tower is a Dark Myst Pygmy named Tierhesant.
