Electric Dragons wield electricity with great prowess. Bright sparks race across these dragons’ bodies in a dazzling dance of light, complemented by the blindingly radiant sparks on their tails. Using their bellies and manes as stores for this electrical energy, Electric Dragons wield crackling magic, stunning and electrocuting their prey with a whip of their tail. During mating season it is typically those with the most brilliant sparks—an indicator of strength and hunting ability—that are drawn to each other.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Stauros is the patriarch of the Blitzwing bloodline. A quiet and contemplative dragon, Stauros is the final dominant arbiter in issues regarding his family's relationship with other dragons as well as itself. He is one of the oldest and most powerful dragons within the reserve that Thericon watches over.

He is highly respected among his family, who refers to him as "Elder Stauros," but Thericon affectionately calls him "Old Man Stauros." He is also somewhat a puritan when it comes to his children and their children finding their mates. While his old ways cause him notes of frustration when his descendants take mates other than Electrics, he will care for them and their mates all the same.

He has a habit of being somewhat humorless and frank, a trait which is foiled by his mate's eloquence in speech. He also has a certain fondness for pine trees, and his lair is decorated with pine boughs, giving it a strong scent of pine.
