Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shaun belongs to the Changers, a group of Magis who not only learn to transmogrify things through magic, or even to modify their own shape, but who know their own soul to a point where they find their spiritual animal and truly become it whenever they change into its skin. The transformation can bring peace to a troubled soul re-focusing it on its very own core making all problems shrink into insignificance; so, as all Changers, Shaun is very calm and at ease with himself. While some Changers have cunning foxes, proud eagles, or loyal wolves hidden inside of them, Shaun—at the very core of his being—is a sheep.
