This breed of dragon was thought to exist only in legend. Although their name varies between cultures, they are often referred to as “Guardians of Nature.” They are able to channel the forces of fire, ice and lightning, which allows them to wield tremendous power. Seen very rarely, it is thought that they only become active when something is threatening the territory they have chosen to guard. In order to protect their chosen home, these dragons are incredibly adaptable; they have been seen everywhere from remote mountain ranges, to ancient forests, to the darkest depths of the ocean.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Zhiegan is a prime example for the sheer foolishness and anger that can result from unrequited love. He cannot get over his love for a Magi dragon by the name of Jakinzhu, no matter how hard he tries, and Jakinzhu knows it. While Zhiegan would appreciate having Jakinzhu's eggs, he isn't too badly affected by the impossibility, due to both dragons being male and Zhiegan being incapable of breeding. What he is affected by, is that even though Jakinzhu knows he is loved, he absolutely refuses to have any part of Zhiegan, not even in friendship. The Magi always casts painful spells on Zhiegan whenever he comes near, knowing that he wouldn't use his immense power to hurt the love of his life, no matter how much of a jerk both of them are.

Unfortunately, this Guardian of Nature has a lot of pent-up anger due to Jakinzhu, and he often takes it out by snapping angrily at any dragon that even slightly annoys him.
