Failed attempts to experiment with magic often result in transforming dragons into these hellish creatures. They are extremely dangerous, and will mindlessly kill any living creature without regard to friend or foe.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ulia was killed at a young age. Her desperate parents attempted to revive the young dragon but the spell backfired and, instead of returning a beautiful gold dragon to her family, raised a hideous monster. Ulia's parents were horrified at this nasty turn of events and sent Ulia away, preferring that the rest of the Cave believe she was dead rather than this horrendous creature. Out on her own, Ulia traveled from location to location, always by night and always alone. She avoids contact with other dragons since doesn't think she can stand to be rejected again. Though she knows that she could be bitter about her fate, Ulia had instead resigned herself to isolation.
