Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.
Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.
It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.
This dragon has taken a liking to lilies, probably because her father, Dracaris von Orlean, used to sit on a lily pad while telling Lil'aris Drac'Orlean stories about knights in shining amour and princesses with long, blonde hair like hers. She is often found at the pond by the caves, sniffing lilies and watching her image in the calm water. Her inner balance is astounding, and many dragon monks have complemented her on it.
Lil'aris is the daughter of the last heir to the von Orlean nobility, however, since she is illegitimate and a daughter of a commoner, she isn't entitled to the family money, privileges or name. Thus came about her version, Drac'Orlean, of which she passed the 'Orlean' part on to her son, Lil'Elec Nov'Orlean. Lil'aris is sad for her son being unable to inherit the family estate, but on the other hand she is content living her simplistic life.
