And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Fallfang is named for his very pointy little teeth. Since he doesn't much like snow, being a fall dragon, he likes having leaf wars with his friends. When it snows, Fallfang and his mentor, Fallclaw, stay in the spacious cave and wait for autumn again. To pass the time, Fallfang hoards old leaves in the cave to throw. These leaves get very smelly and slimy sometimes, and that's when the other hatchlings stop playing.
