Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

He lacks fear, he lacks empathy, and he lacks emotion. A particularly disturbing dragon, Sociopath appears devoid of any and all humanity that his peers possess and is well-known for being a loner. It is no secret that the Dorsal dragon is violent and unpredictable, as is confirmed by the terrifying rumors that the nearby human settlements have placed a bounty on his head. Even more frightening are the murmurings that he has claimed the lives of over a hundred humans-- knights, woodsmen, hunters... anyone who happens to cross paths. Sociopath's unexplainable, bloodthirsty nature has proven reason enough for other dragons to keep their distance.

To these rumors and gossip, the Dorsal has no response. He appears indifferent to the alarmed eyes his own kind gives him, and even-- dare say-- gets enjoyment out of it. His motives are as mysterious as they are vicious, and with the slightest of smiles on his face, Sociopath continues to honor his namesake.
