Green Dragons are also sometimes called “earth” dragons. They usually live deep within caves, and have power over the earth. They are capable of launching boulders at high speeds, and can cause earthquakes by slamming down onto the ground.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Matushka Syra Zemlia is a very vigorous dragon with a solid, matriarchal presence. She is known for her absolute integrity, and insists on honest behavior from others. Local farmers will often take oaths by her, as, for example, "May Matushka Syra Zemlia eat me if what I say is untrue." They call her Matushka, "Little Mother," out of respect and deep affection. Those who behave with integrity and honor, and who are generous and courteous in their dealings with others, find that her magic helps their crops grow thick and abundant, and their livestock produce strong, healthy offspring. She likes children and enjoys their company, but is a firm disciplinarian, and often a terror to youngsters who misbehave (particularly if their misbehavior involves cruelty to the weak or helpless).
