Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Black Curly Ice is small, black, curly and cold. The tiny, tiny insects in the cave are his favourite food; he helpfully eats the fleas that the paper dragons harbour before they can bite anyone else. Everyone is always very grateful to him for doing this, so he keeps very quiet about how much he actually enjoys them. When you are as small as he is, you take all the credit you can get.

As he is so small, though, he has to stay well to the sides of the cave to make sure he doesn't get trodden on. This means he gets rather lonely when the others are playing. But they admire his curliness when they are resting, and that makes him puff up with pride.
