Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s extremely curious and seems to enjoy exploring the area around it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

As an egg, Kusum Bala was abandoned by her previous owner and found by Kerzi, a female water dragon with no biological children. Kerzi, with the aid of her adopted daughter Mrazene, raised the young purple dragon to hatchlinghood. When the time came for Kusum to mature into an adult, she expressed her desire to remain a hatchling to stay with her best friend, Mrazene. After a long discussion with the leaders of the clan, Kusum was given permission to become a frozen hatchling. Down to this day, Mrazene and Kusum are still close and the little purple dragon does not regret her decision for a second.
