When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Vatake is a dragon full of pride. As he swim around in the giant lake next to the cave(where all the other dragon lives)he likes to act like he is king or something. But he is the oldest and largest of all the water dragons there so that is not so weird. His foster mother stopped feeding Vatake as soon  as he was 1 year and 10 months old. At that point his fins and gills were fully developed and he could hunt and chase all by himself. One of the things his owner enjoy most is taking a swim with him. When he is in a specific good mood he likes to pop up right beside her and blast her with a high pressured 5 meter wide water jet. And as he see her choking and desperately try to get a hold of him so she can punish him somehow he makes his characteristic hoarse, gruff kind of growling that is his way of laughing. Then he would disappear in a giant fountain of water just to reappear somewhere else and do it again.
