Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dagen was a war hero, a general of the highest rank back when he was a member of a clan comprised of only the fiercest breeds: Hellfires, Blacks, Seragammas, and Tri-Horns. He braved many battles to earn his position, but a clan made of such ferocious dragons was not likely to survive. Civil war broke out, chaos ensued, and Dagen emerged from the turmoil bloodied and battle-weary. He settled into the clan immediately, and brought a great amount of valuable information with him. He taught the Whites and other curious dragons how to temporarily hold open wounds together by using a sharp stick and a thin, tightly-wound vine. Hatchlings come to him to learn advanced battle techniques and strategies, as well as hear tales about battles he fought long ago.
