And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Serious, dark, and level-headed, Airtemis is much more intelligent and cunning than her brethren. She's a quick learner, and exceedingly wise for her age. She's fiercely loyal to protecting her surrogate family in the clan, but at the same time, she feels very distant to most of them, as she was adopted and knows no true relatives. It's assumed that she had some kind of trauma in her past. She's not one to initiate a congenial conversation—she doesn't talk much, and when she does, her words are so sardonic and bitter, nobody would ever guess how deeply she cares for the dragons she knows.
