Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Sunny Tides, or Sunny for short, is a young Day Glory. He is one of the nicest, funniest, happiest, and fastest dragons in the clan, making him pretty popular among the other dragons. He is very optimistic, and always loves cheering up his friends. He is often found in his cherry tree garden outside his clan's cave, where he harvests the cherries he grows. He is usually found at the nearby beach with Icarus, Bubble Berry, and Derpy, where the four find fish for their clan. He is quite competitive, and he loves competing with Sora the Night Glory over pretty much anything they can think of, such as who can eat the most in one sitting, who can try to steal Ajax's food without him yelling at them, who can prank the most dragons in a day, etc. Despite competing with Sora all the time, deep down they really care for each other. He loves being around humans, and is well-known in Drakeville for baking the best cherry pies in town.
