Frilled Dragons are smaller than most other breeds, but when threatened, they stretch out their wings and frills to appear larger. They generally do not like to fight and prefer hiding to confrontation. Frilled dragons live in small groups and often band together to scare off potential threats. Males also use their frills as a way to attract mates, with those displaying the “best” frills being more likely to breed.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nevlil had always been a very shy dragon. Even as a hatchling, his frills weren't as pretty or as awesome as his fellows, which made him an obvious target for bullying. Adding to his shame was the naming event, the day where the hatchlings had to choose a name for themselves. Nevlil preferred the name 'Neville', however, when it was his turn to speak, he was so nervous he stuttered and stumbled over it. This resulted into the others calling him Nevlil from there on.

Growing up to be smaller than most frilled dragons didn't help his self-esteem either, so he tried to find his luck elsewhere. One day he came across a lake, where a beautiful dragoness sat upon a lily pad, watching a few two-legs fight among themselves. Nevlil immediately fell in love with her. They bred a few eggs together and watched their hatchlings grow up, but Johanna doesn't want to settle with him as her mate, making Nevlil a very depressed frilled dragon most of the time.
