Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dark, broody and with a red glint in his eyes at all times, Xythus is a feared dragon, not only among the golds but other dragons as well. He is rarely seen except when he prowls around. The dragons have always wondered what happened to Xy, as he used to be a respected, kind and honored dragon, if a bit reserved. He has taken over the gold clan after defeating the gold elder and leader, Goldfuss; he has not done anything yet and insists on only appearing at night and spending his time in secret places during the daytime. Some say that he is planning an evil master plan to take over other clans, but no one knows his reasonings. Many, however, have noticed that he has sired many gold offspring.
