Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its skin is smooth and doesn’t seem to have any color to it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Because of her pale, translucent skin and long body, Import is treated like a rare commodity by her fellow hatchlings, as if she's the new kid at school every day. Others are always jostling each other about who gets to sleep next to her, who will be her partner while playing outside, who gets her on their team when they're planning play-adventures. Import takes this all in stride, generally quietly going along with whoever wants her attention and seeming content with whatever decision is made.
