Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

During his youth, Verloren Geheugen's clan survived a terrible storm that resulted in the separation of his hatchmate. An adventurous and reckless dragon, Verloren stole away years later with the intent to find his friend. Because of his recklessness, he was exposed to much danger during his travels, and one experience with an unfriendly Hellfire resulted in a huge scar running from his eye down the length of his neck, and a significant loss of his memory. While unconscious from these wounds he was discovered by Dashed Dreams of the Gosland clan, who brought him back to that clan and helped him recover. Subdued by his brush with death, Verloren was content to remain with the Goslanders. He became friends with Dashed Dreams, unaware that Dashed is his hatchmate and the object the quest he had set out upon so long ago, that memory sadly having been wiped forever from his mind.
