Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Maroline Fae is a guardian dragon who values independency. She strongly believes in the saying "Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime". So she strongly encourages her clan's hatchlings to grow up as strong individuals who can fend for themselves. She even doesn't want to protect fellow clan members if she is fully sure that they can handle the situation for themselves. She does this to prevent them for becoming dependent on her. She even goes as far to the point that she taught herself how to hunt and forage even thought her clan feeds her. This goes against her nature as a guardian dragon, who are always fed by those who they protect. But it does shows that she has tremendous willpower, devotion and determination. Her clan find her very extreme and weird because of this unusual behaviour. She got mixed emotions of her clan members who either respond hostile or affectionate towards her. She notable prefers sour food.
